India celebrates National Sports Day on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand. The day is also dedicated to the nations’ sports heroes and champions, honoring their contribution and dedication towards bringing laurels to the country. With the aim to raise awareness about the values of sports: discipline, perseverance, sportsman spirit, teamwork, and to encourage public in large to take up sports and make it an
integral part of their lives while emphasizing on the importance of being fit and healthy.
The theme for this year's celebration is “Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society”. It is a week long celebration from 21st August to 29th August of 2023.

Sports play an essential role in the physical and mental well-being of individuals of all ages. They help to promote physical activity, which can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Sports also help to improve cognitive function, reduce stress, and boost self-esteem. In addition to the individual benefits, sports can also have a positive impact on the community as a whole, to build social cohesion.
For all of these reasons, I believe that it is essential to incorporate sports infrastructure and facilities in every multi-housing project. This will help to create healthier, happier, and more productive communities.
